| AAS-T Degree |
|
Purpose: The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree continues to prepare students for employment in a field with a two-year degree; however, NSCC has recently entered into agreements with some local area colleges and universities where AAS degree graduates in certain disciplines will be able to transfer into baccalaureate programs. The NSCC Advantage: A growing number of students that study in AAS degree programs find that they need to obtain a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution. Some find that they may be required to obtain a bachelor's degree to advance in their field of employment, while others simply do not have a clear direction upon entering college. Students that had completed an AAS degree and wanted to attend a four-year institution found themselves trying to complete the additional requirements for an AA degree in order to meet the entrance requirements. In an effort to meet the needs of these students, NSCC has developed agreements with local colleges and universities where certain AAS-T degrees can prepare students to obtain immediate employment, and then continue on to a four-year institution without losing credits or beginning again as freshmen. Advising: Advising for these degrees is available from the Professional/Technical Advisors. |
